On Tuesday night 6th class had their graduation ceremony. We had a great night where the children received certificates for completing primary school, a lovely BNS pen, new hoodies and a framed photo of 6th class! We had a pizza party with all the families outside the school. The 6th class will be missed! Check out the picture of the new hoodies with all of 6th class's signatures below.

It was all about ice cream in the 5th and 6th classroom this week as the children created their own clay ice creams. Then, on Tuesday last, they were lucky enough to be visited by the ice cream van, where they each got a lovely 99.
Today we said goodbye to Karyn, our football coach for the pas 7 years here in Burnfort National School. We really enjoyed our last session with Karyn, having a penalty shoot out and playing a game of Gaeilc football to end our session.
We had so much fun on our school tour last Tuesday with the Ballyhass Adventure Group in Coachford. Everyone in 5th and 6th class agreed that it was the best event of the year! The favourite activity amongst the class was the Aquapark where the children enjoyed jumping of the inflatable structures, into the lake. Another highlight of the school tour was the high ropes which was a giant obstacle course with trampoline rope, slides and big bouncy balls. We finished off the day with some team building exercises and archery. All the children agreed they would love to go back again soon!
5th and 6th class have been learning about the importance of Friendship in SPHE. We looked at the most important qualities of friendship. Each child created a petal with the quality of friendship that was most important to them. Together in groups the class created a big Friendship flower displaying all of these qualities.
The boys and girls in 5th and 6th class were busy this week planting carrots in the garden. As part of our wellbeing project this year, the boys and girls have decided to clean up the school grounds by weeding and later in June, creating a small outdoor seating area for those who would like to read and chat during break times. We will keep you updated on our progress!
We have been learning all about 3-D shapes in 5th and 6th class. We decided to have some fun creating many different shapes, cuboids, prisms, octahedrons and pyramids using linguine and marshmallows. Of course we tasted some marshmallows after all our hard work!
5th and 6th class girls and boys began their daily mile at home during their last two weeks of online learning. Once we arrived back to school, we gladly began the daily mile together as a class. We love this daily break from the classroom, it refreshes our minds and allows us to keep fit! Here are some photos of us completing our daily mile at home and in school.
Táimid ag céiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge faoi láthair ar líne i rang 5 agus 6. Rinneamar póstaer de sheanfhocail. We are celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge online in 5th and 6th class at the moment. We made posters with seanfhocail. We are also learning a new phrase gach lá chun feabhsú a dhéanamh ar ár gcuid Gaeilge. |
